Amplifying Global FX Capital was founded in 2015 and is fully owned by Greg Gibbs. It is a registered company both in Australia and Colorado, USA and is a licensed in Australia to provide financial services.

We are producing a regular trading view orientated macroeconomic analysis of topical themes in global financial markets, with a particular focus on foreign exchange. We invite you to view an “executive summary” of these reports in “AmpGFX Reports” under our “Research” menu.

These reports are drawn from the analysis of Greg Gibbs and inform the capital management he undertakes on behalf of the company. The trading performance is posted periodically on our website. We aim to build our company into both a research and capital management business. We are currently in the planning phase for managing capital for wholesale customers.

Greg Gibbs has spent his working life of more than 26 years in financial markets, beginning in 1989 at the Reserve Bank of Australia, after completing a Bachelor of Economics Degree (Honours) at the Australian National University. He has been a CFA Charterholder since 2005. He has worked in Sydney, Singapore, New York and London for major global banks and presented on foreign exchange markets to major financial institutions and companies around the world, and maintained a high profile in the financial media.

Before Amplifying Global FX Capital, Greg was the Head of Asia Pacific Market Strategy at the Royal Bank of Scotland based Singapore. He now resides in Breckenridge Colorado.

The rise in USD/JPY is surprising many, breaking away from US yields and perceptions that JPY should act as a safe haven in times of global market uncertainty.  However, the USD/JPY 10-year yield advantage is around a high since 2007 and consistent with a weaker JPY in a broad sense.  JPY assets have been behaving more like Asia regional assets.  BoJ QE continues apace, while the Fed is now in QT. Real yields have widened significantly in favour of the USD, especially if you consider rising wages in Japan.  JPY may be evolving from a safe haven to a regional currency.  BoJ QE policy may also be reasserting a negative influence on the currency.

Japan's relative outperform is coming to a close given the dual highs at Nikkei 23,000 and an expected USD/JPY decline to break rising wedge support. We have held a hedge short from 22,965 and just added a tranche at 21,910. Momentum selling below 22,000 was viewed as a critical turning point in the tactical cycle. We have also identified a high confidence topping signals in the USD/JPY that will add pressure to the Nikkei support break and more importantly signal increasing DM equity risk.A…

We presented our tech heavy case over the weekend in our weekly edition with updated charts this morning. NDX – Worth paying attention to the fact that recent NDX strength has not pierced upper Bollinger bands (two fades and third would set up a correction). Fading below this band implies the rise is getting tired as breadth narrows. NDX RSI has already cracked support.  SOX also backed off of key highs and looks heavy. A series of intra-day selling reversals would be a more negative combination…
