Our process begins by organizing the universe of actively traded stocks into discrete sectors, then into industry groups. We then apply our technical and quantitative tools to identify developing price trends. Once attractive trends are identified within a selected sector or group, we screen for individual stocks which we believe offer the best risk/reward profile. We provide a historical perspective that often reveals, through our long-term charts, how price patterns often repeat themselves over time.

iShares Russell 2000 ETF / Technical Analysis

<ul>
<li>We continue to see the current environment as a bear market rally with the potential for it turn into something more following bullish breadth thrust signals.</li>
<li>The SPX and NDX have been treading water for a week (bull flags?), but the Russell 2000, DAX, Hang Seng, MSCI China (MCHI), and KWEB have continued to move higher.</li>
<li>We are also seeing major bullish reversals on Europe's STOXX 50 and Japan's Nikkei 225, topside 6- and 9-month downtrends, respectively. These are far from bearish signs.</li>
</ul>


We continue to see the current environment as a bear market rally with the potential for it turn into something more following bullish breadth thrust signals.
The SPX and NDX have been treading water for a week (bull flags?), but the Russell 2000, DAX, Hang Seng, MSCI China (MCHI), and KWEB have continued to move higher.
We are also seeing major bullish reversals on Europe's STOXX 50 and Japan's Nikkei 225, topside 6- and 9-month downtrends, respectively. These are far from bearish signs.

<li>There is hope that this panic buying could signal a major bottom, but we still need to see more confirmation before declaring that the low is in.</li>
<li>We are watching the Nasdaq 100 (QQQ) and the steep RS uptrends on Utilities (XLU) and Staples (XLP) for more confirmation that a major low is in place. Details below.</li>

Following panic selling that we have outlined over the past month, we finally saw panic buying last Friday in the form of 92% upside volume on the NYSE.
There is hope that this panic buying could signal a major bottom, but we still need to see more confirmation before declaring that the low is in.
We are watching the Nasdaq 100 (QQQ) and the steep RS uptrends on Utilities (XLU) and Staples (XLP) for more confirmation that a major low is in place. Details below.


Panic Buying Achieved, Waiting for More Confirmation of a Bottom;Buying Staples & Auto Dealers/Parts

<li>The US equity decline still lacks real capitulation/outflows/redemptions for a major low but the next leg down does offer a better tactical long entry point.</li>
<li>RSI near 25 is the ideal buy zone for the SPX (this week or into late May). The weekly cycle has yet to show a convincing bottom.</li>
<li>NDX 12,700 is rejection resistance to induce a slide closer to 11,000 higher degree support for a better tradable rally sequence. RTY bull near 1,650.</li>
</ul>
