  • In today’s Morning Views publication we comment on developments of the following high yield issuers: Longfor Group, Adani Ports, Adani Green Energy
  • UST yields were broadly stable yesterday. The yield on the 2Y UST rose 1 bp to 3.91%, while the yield on the 10Y UST was unchanged at 4.45%. Equities rallied, following the release of strong retail sales data. The S&P 500 rose 0.5% to a new high of 6,297, while the Nasdaq was up 0.7% at 20,886.
  • Several Fed officials spoke yesterday. New York Fed President John Williams said it is “entirely appropriate” to maintain the current modestly restrictive monetary policy stance, as he expects inflation to increase in the coming months. Atlanta Fed President Raphael Bostic also said that he still supports holding interest rates steady, stating that inflation may be at an “inflection point” after several months of soft price increases.

  • U.S. Tariff Escalation: Credit Implications for Brazilian Companies in Our Coverage

Lucror Analytics – Morning Views Asia

By Trung Nguyen

  • In today’s Morning Views publication we comment on developments of the following high yield issuers: Nissan Motor
  • UST yields jumped 4-6 bps across the curve yesterday, as the benign core CPI data pared market expectations for Fed easing. Feddated OIS are now pricing in 43 bps of rate cuts this year (vs. 49 bps as of Monday), with the first cut expected in October. The yield on the 2Y UST rose 4 bps to 3.94%, while the yield on the 10Y UST climbed 5 bps to 4.48%.
  • Equities were mixed. The S&P 500 declined 0.4% to 6,244, although the Nasdaq rose 0.2% to 20,678. In the US, the June CPI inched up to 2.7% y-o-y (2.6% e / 2.4% p) and 0.3% m-o-m (0.3% e / 0.1% p).

U.S. Tariff Escalation: Credit Implications for Brazilian Companies in Our Coverage

By Leandro Gubler

  • Brazilian Credits in Our Coverage Show Resilience, as U.S. Tariffs Likely to Have a Modest Impact Despite Limited Macro Policy Flexibility
  • Suzano is most exposed to U.S. tariffs, but global scale, cost leadership, and FX tailwinds help cushion the impact. Gerdau could benefit from tighter U.S. supply conditions in the US.
  • CSN has just 4% U.S. exposure, with limited risk unless quotas tighten. Minerva’s 5% is manageable, supported by a diversified export base that enables flexible rerouting.

  • The UST curve bear-steepened marginally yesterday, in line with a steepening in the JGB curve and amid an absence of macro news. The yield on the 2Y UST rose 1 bp to 3.90%, while the yield on the 10Y UST was up 2 bps at 4.44%.
  • Equities shrugged off earlier losses to end the day marginally higher, after US President Donald Trump told reporters there could be trade talks, including with Europe. The S&P 500 rose 0.1% to 6,269, while the Nasdaq was up 0.3% at 20,640. The market focus today is on the US CPI for June.

  • In today’s Morning Views publication we comment on developments of the following high yield issuers: Seazen Group
  • Long-end treasury yields rose on Friday, amid US President Donald Trump’s threats of a 35% tariff on Canadian goods and a 15-20% baseline tariff on other countries without deals. The UST curve bear steepened, with the yield on the 2Y UST rising 1 bp to 3.88%, while that on the 10Y UST was up 6 bps at 4.41%. Equities retreated from all-time highs, with the S&P 500 and Nasdaq down 0.3% and 0.2%, at 6,260 and 20,586, respectively.
  • Mr Trump has shared tariff-letter screenshots on Truth Social to announce a 30% tariff on goods from the EU and Mexico, which are separate from all sectoral tariffs. The letters warn that “goods transhipped to evade a higher tariff will be subject to that higher tariff”, and “if for any reason you decide to raise your tariffs and retaliate, then, whatever the number you choose to raise them by, will be added onto the 30% that we charge”.

  • In today’s Morning Views publication we comment on developments of the following high yield issuers: Shui On Land, Vedanta Resources, JSW Steel, Nissan Motor
  • UST yields declined yesterday (the first drop in a week), on the back of a solid auction of 10Y notes. The yield on the 2Y UST fell 5 bps to 3.84%, while the yield on the 10Y UST was down 7 bps at 4.33%. Equities rallied, led by gains in large tech stocks. The S&P 500 rose 0.6% to 6,263, while the Nasdaq climbed 0.9% to 20,611.

  • The US market was closed for Independence Day on Friday. US President Donald Trump passed his signature tax cut and spending Bill into law on Friday, after it was approved by Congress in a 218-214 vote on Thursday.
  • The fiscal package includes tax cuts, lower spending on social programmes (e.g. federal food stamps and college student loans) and the elimination of tax benefits encouraging the use of clean energies. The non-partisan Congressional Budget Office estimated that the new legislation will add more than USD 3 tn to the country’s deficit over the next decade.
