1. Nikkei 225 (NKY INDEX) Outlook as Review Period for March Index Rebalance Enters Final Weeks

By Nico Rosti, MRM Research

  • As recently reported by Brian Freitas the review period for the Nikkei 225 (NKY INDEX) March rebalance ends in 4 weeks. The index committee may execute only 2-3 changes.
  • The Nikkei 225 (NKY INDEX) this week started to rally quite strongly and reached quickly the overbought price zone identified by our model above 52306 (the index reached 52518 Tuesday).
  • Trade: consider selling at the top some of the low-liquidity stocks in the index that may be deleted in March (refer to Brian’s insight).

2. AEON (8267) Restructuring Strategy: Monetize Volatility After Tsuruha-Welcia Consolidation, 237xP/E

By Jay Cameron, Cameron Design

  • AEON’s stock surge and 237x LTM P/E suggest record profits and private-label success are largely priced in, creating a high bar for future execution.
  • Upcoming catalysts include the Q3 earnings on January 8, 2026, and a complex March supermarket reorganization that introduces short-term uncertainty.
  • The current elevated valuation and corporate restructuring imply a market consolidation phase, suggesting a strategy focused on range-bound spot price movement.

3. Asian Stocks Tactical Outlook (Week Jan 5 – Jan 9)

By Nico Rosti, MRM Research

4. Samsung Electronics (005930 KS) Tactical Outlook: +30% In 2 Week, Parabolically OVERBOUGHT

By Nico Rosti, MRM Research

  • Samsung Electronics (005930 KS) took off on Monday, recording a +7.47% jump from last Friday’s Close. This comes after similar jumps performed the previous 2 weeks.
  • Since Friday 19th of December (2 weeks ago), the stock has jumped > 30%. And it has nearly reached the upper limit of the Tails price zone in our model.
  • Of course we know a stock can go up without any rationale, but it’s hard to believe Samsung Electronics will continue to rally at this pace. Recommendation:SHORT or hedge.

5. Apple (AAPL US) Tactical BUY Opportunity This Week

By Nico Rosti, MRM Research

  • Apple (AAPL US) attracted our attention because it has been selling off for 6 weeks (if this week’s close is confirmed down, i.e. below 271.01).
  • Apple sell-off started in early December, and has been pretty much monodirectional with no rallies.
  • Our model thinks the stock is quite oversold and may soon rally back. Most likely the rally will take place from the end of this week, or next week.

6. Fresnillo (FRES LN): Probe Gold Acquisition and $4,400 Gold Drive the MAR26 Option Strategy

By Jay Cameron, Cameron Design

  • Gains in precious metals pricing, driven by global debt and central bank shifts, have resulted in record-setting free cash flow and a more solid financial position.
  • The company’s portfolio diversified heavily this year through the all-cash acquisition of 10 million gold ounces in stable, low-risk Canadan mining assets.
  • Technical analysis of retail trends and a dramatic operational turnaround point to a potential long-term, leveraged upside for silver-focused GDX components.

7. Macro Monthly (January): Low Implied Vol Meets Challenging January Backdrop

By John Ley, Clifton Derivatives

  • Low implied vols set the stage for January with four markets below the 10th percentile, but historical patterns indicate the risk-reward may shift quickly against volatility sellers.
  • Gold and Kospi stand out as leadership persists, though volatility signals suggest their setups deserve careful evaluation as seasonal forces come into play.
  • Nifty and HSI present contrasting signals, where depressed implied vols meet historically challenging January patterns worth watching closely.

8. Hong Kong Single Stock Options Weekly (Jan 05 – 09): Dispersion Over Direction

By John Ley, Clifton Derivatives

  • Early January strength proves fleeting, yet persistent volume and active options trading suggest positioning remains engaged despite muted index level performance.
  • Mixed breadth masks sharp single stock moves, with outsized gains and losses creating dispersion rather than broad market participation.
  • Stock specific dynamics increasingly dominate, as volatility, volume, and options activity diverge from index level behavior.

9. HSI INDEX Tactical Outlook: Rally Continuation or Pause?

By Nico Rosti, MRM Research

  • The Hang Seng Index (HSI INDEX) close the week down, very mild, minimal, 1-week pullback, could be interpreted as a buy-the-dip setup according to our model.
  • The index could pullback 1 more week (even 2 weeks), but it would become very oversold, according to our quant HSI probabilistic bayesian model.
  • A rally could go to 27417 in 2 weeks times. A more ambitious target would be 28017, in 3-4 weeks time.

10. Australia Single Stock Options (Jan 05–09): Suppressed Index Moves, Expanding Stock Level Dispersion

By John Ley, Clifton Derivatives

  • Exceptionally tight index trading contrasts with rising dispersion beneath the surface, setting up a more dynamic environment for single stock opportunities in the week ahead.
  • Breadth data highlights growing dispersion, with gains and losses diverging meaningfully rather than clustering around a single market outcome.
  • The growing gap between single stock and index implied volatility points to unusually low implied correlation across the market.
