We often focus on the less studied components of bank financial statements.  Our research is highly thematic, sometimes examining unlisted banks and companies as a window on mainstream banks. 

Being independent allows us to look at smaller banks, often overlooked by others. Analysis of BIS bank guidelines in the context of Asia, is also a focal point, while we also analyze global banks operating in the region. We use what we believe is the most comprehensive, reliable financials database, SNL Financial. S&P Capital IQ augments our database, with corporate data and CEIC, with economics.

US Banks - Strong Weekly Balance Sheet Figures for Loans, Loan Loss Reserves and Time Deposits

<li>BP’s revenue is expected to rise 7% QoQ but fall 5% YoY while EPS is anticipated to drop 7% QoQ and 19% YoY.</li>
<li>Management projected lower upstream production for Q3 compared to Q2, including in high-margin regions. However, retail fuel sales are expected to increase on stronger seasonal demand.</li>
<li>In 2023, BP allocated over 30% of its total expenditure to charging stations, biofuels, hydrogen fuels, and fuelling stations, a significant rise from just 3% in 2019.</li>

<li>US natural gas inventories rise 58 Bcf for the week ending 13/Sep, more than analyst expectations of a 53 Bcf buildup. Inventories are 8.6% above the 5-year seasonal average.</li>
<li>Chevron, Occidental Petroleum, and Exxon Mobil see target price cuts. DBS Bank initiated a Buy rating on Schlumberger and Halliburton.</li>
