Yesterday, SBI Holdings (8473 JP) announced it would launch a tender offer to buy 33.4-51% of Aruhi Corp (7198 JP) at ¥1,500/share - a 48.5% premium to the close. 
ARUHI - Japan's largest "mortgage bank" - was listed in late 2017. Long ago, its predecessor was named SBI Mortgage. This is SBI buying back in.

SBI (8473) Buys Back Into ARUHI (7198) In Partial Tender Offer

<li>As designed, the JPX-Nikkei400 Index is something of a disaster. It aims to be slightly 'smart' vs other cap-weighted indices like TOPIX, but tracking error vs TOPIX is de minimus.</li>
<li>This year, in week 1, the ADD vs DELETE performance is positive. If we sector-hedge the ADDs vs DELETEs, it's doing even better.</li>
<li>This is probably due to relatively low pre-positioning, and cares. Momentum suggests one could be long ADDs vs DELETEs. And there is the perennial trade to watch out for.</li>

<li>Home improvement retailer <a href="https://www.smartkarma.com/entities/joyful-honda-co-ltd" target="_blank" data-smartkarma-citation="entities:13616:1" rel="noopener">Joyful Honda (3191 JP)</a> today announced a buyback of ¥2.5bn, in line with the Share Repurchase Plan announcement made in early June.  That's the first step.</li>
<li>The rest is pretty easy and straight-forward, but given its novelty, it may deserve explanation.</li>
