iEdge Singapore Next 50: Portfolio Capacity Keeps Rising
- The iEdge Singapore Next 50 comfortably supports S$50-100m index products today, and about S$171m with optimised sampling that excludes the five least liquid names.
- Strict full-replication capacity reached about S$97m as of 10 July 2026, up 75% since September 2025, as aggregate constituent turnover rose from S$134m to S$261m per day.
- The ceiling is set by a thin tail of property and hospitality names, so an ETF launch or the remaining S$2.6bn of EQDP money would lift it.
Ohayo Japan | Wall Street Rebounds
- US equities rebounded modestly as oil and Treasury yields stabilised, with softer ADP data and dovish Fed commentary tempering rate-hike concerns
- Snowflake (+21% after hours) beat Q2 expectations, with revenue up 35.1% to $1.55bn
- Rising JGB yields driving the Japan equity narrative, triggering a broad de-risking as the 10-year yield pushed above 3%.
Singapore Market Roundup (02-Sep-2026): DBS’s Foo boosts GuocoLand target price to $3.40
- DBS’s Foo raises GuocoLand target price to $3.40 after strong FY2026 earnings.
- UOBKH sees CDL, YZJ, and MPACT as STI laggards to watch for recovery.
- Citi suggests UOL may sell assets to finance Marina Square redevelopment.
India’s Defence Opportunity Is Shifting From Platforms To Technology
- FY26 defence production reached Rs. 1.78 lakh crore and exports Rs. 38,424 crore, while capability gaps remain in electronics, seekers, counter-drone systems, secure networks and materials.
- Platform assembly creates volume; design authority, embedded software and subsystem IP can create recurring upgrades, higher switching costs and export freedom.
- BEL is the broadest proxy, while Data Patterns, Astra Microwave, Paras Defence and Zen offer narrower technology exposure. HAL, BDL and Solar remain execution-led plays.
Exencial Morning Charts – 02-09-2026
- India’s flood outlay rises to ₹797 crore in FY27 and Maharashtra draws the largest mitigation share at ₹1,429 crore.
- August GST held firm, gross up 14.8 percent and net up 8.3 percent even as refunds jumped sharply.
- Apple’s run under Tim Cook was strong but sits in the pack among big tech rather than out front.
Exencial Filings Daily – 02-09-2026
- Fund raising was debt and insider warrants, not public equity
- The heaviest legal numbers were a bank rating and a demerger, not fraud
- The real orders were large, led by fibre and rail
India Rare Earths Monitor – August 2026
- India’s INR7,280 crore REPM magnet tender drew 20 bids in August, with L&T stepping forward alongside a Proterial-led consortium, the downstream localization push moving from open tender to contested field.
- Prices split by weight: light rare earths corrected (Pr-Nd oxide −2.5%) while dysprosium firmed in oxide (+3.7%) and metal (+2.5%), tracking exactly where China’s export control bites hardest.
- New private processing routes emerged, including Enervoxa’s $250-350mn plan to recover rare earths from aluminium red mud, sidestepping the monazite mining and radioactivity bottleneck.
What’s News in Amsterdam – 2 September (E-commerce & Logistics)
- In yesterday’s edition, we cited French customs data showing a 30-40% drop in small parcel volumes coming from China as a result of the abolition of the de minimis rule.
- Dutch customs data for July and August show an even bigger drop in non-EU small parcel volumes of 46% versus the prior sixmonth average.
- Dutch Customs reports that e-commerce platforms and sellers are increasingly consolidating shipments into containerised bulk imports, storing inventory within the EU, and then dispatching domestic or intra-EU parcels to end consumers.
Energy Transition: Oil Companies in Disguise
- This report analyses 17 of the world’s largest automakers and identifies a systemic “Carbon Gap” between reported Scope 3 Category 11 emissions and estimated real-world lifecycle emissions.
- Across the sector, Carbon Tracker estimates a median reporting gap of 33%, driven by differences between corporate reporting assumptions and real-world vehicle emissions.
- Adjusted emissions estimates suggest several automakers are as carbon intensive as traditional oil and gas companies.
