Ohayo Japan | Nasdaq Hits a Record High

By Mark Chadwick

  • U.S. equities: Nasdaq gained 1.0% to a record, S&P 500 rose 0.7%, while Nvidia hit an all-time high despite higher Treasury yields.
  • Schneider’s 42.3% premium for PTC could prompt investors to reassess valuations of Japanese companies with proprietary industrial software or automation assets
  • French fiscal and political concerns weighed heavily, sending the euro to a 17-month low against the dollar and widening French-German bond yield spreads.

Episode 57: One Decision a Year To Outperform The S&P

By Marc Rudajev

  • Sometime in the early 2000s I was sitting in a ballroom at the CLSA conference in Hong Kong and Marc Faber, the author of the famed Gloom, Boom & Doom Report, took the stage to give a keynote. He said something that has never left me.
  • He told the room that if he had made only three decisions in his entire investing career (which started about 25 years prior), he would have beaten the returns he actually earned running money for a living.
  • Three decisions, once a decade, and peace of mind in Chiangmai (where Marc lives).
